Purpose
Since the popularization of smartphones, our daily lives and social relationships have become deeply dependent on digital technologies and services.
In this environment, user sovereignty is more important than ever for smarter and more convenient use of powerful digital technologies.
This is because digital technology inherently possesses multi-functionality and complexity, and in a fiercely competitive environment,
it sometimes tends to prioritize the needs of developers or companies over users.
The Human Technology Award serves to provide useful information to users while also focusing on functions that present higher values for technology.
'Human-friendly technology' has now evolved beyond simply being a matter of consumer rights to become a core value in corporate and developer communities.
Only technologies that consider users and inspire trust can be sustainable and achieve true success in the global market.
Subject to Evaluation
The Human Technology Award evaluates outstanding examples that pursue human-friendly digital technology among widely used digital devices and services.
Various types of digital technologies provided by diverse entities—including large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises/startups, public institutions,
and non-profit organizations—are selected as major evaluation targets.
Additionally, the award includes as special evaluation targets individuals, organizations, policies, and legislative activities that have contributed to
the development of human-friendly digital technologies, as well as cases that, despite low recognition, possess innovative and future-oriented values.
Through this approach, we aim to broadly highlight efforts toward human-centered technological development occurring across various domains.
